Earth to Mars.

“You’re my best friend and can see ghosts and you DON’T think I’d come find your ass after I’ve been MURDERED?”

“Did you just say “murdered”?”

Seeing ghosts is one thing, but seeing the ghost of your best friend is another! Can Mars use her gift to solve and avenge the murder of her B-F-”not so” F?

What is it?

Earth to Mars is a story that has been well in the works. It started with the idea of a character who is able to see ghosts helps their best friend to solve their murder Nancy Drew style.

I originally wrote it as a short story for a high school English class in 2021, that was later then revamped and written again for a different college writing course in 2024. In that same class we were asked to take an assignment we had already written from the class, and turn it into an art piece. It was then the idea for the comic was born.

I had only drawn out the first chapter for that specific assignment, but then when I was enrolled in MassArt’s Graphic Novels class I was quick to want to take this idea to the next level. The assignment was to make a five-page fully-colored comic. I, taking matters into my own hands, wrote and sketched a sixty-page comic, telling the full story. I was only able to fully render the first prologue and chapter, but I have intentions of carrying this story all the way to the finish line.

Meet the characters!

Mars is the main character of the story. Cursed with the ability to see and communicate with the dead, she spends her very day chasing her definition of normality and be the stereotypical 17 year old girl everyone is quick to ignore.

Ash is Mars’ dead counterpart. At the beginning of the story we are exposed to their grisly demise. They push the story forward with the unfinished business of their journey to expose their killer and remain remembered.
